La cronometro individuale sarà la nona tappa del Giro d'Italia 2016 e si correrà sabato 15 maggio 2016 da Radda in Chianti a Greve in Chianti. Sono poco più di 40 km. attraverso le magnifiche colline Toscane dove si produce uno dei più famosi e apprezzati vini al mondo. The Individual Time Trial stage will be stage 9 of the 2016 Giro d’Italia, held on Sunday 15 May from Radda in Chianti to Greve in Chianti. It’s 40.4km, through the amazing Tuscan landscape that produces one of the world's most famous and appreciated wines. It will be a stunning time trial without a single flat section; instead it features continuous climbs and descents in between the fantastic hills in the lands of Chianti.

E' considerata una delle tappe chiave del Giro d'Italia 2016, molto probabilmente decisiva per definire una ristretta lista di possibili vincitori della Maglia Rosa finale.
La caratteristica principale della corsa è l'assenza di tratti piani, con una serie continua di saliscendi tra i vigneti del Gallo Nero. Si dovranno affrontare salite, alcune delle quali piuttosto ripide, e discese in cui si dovrà spingere sui pedali, in particolare durante la parte finale della corsa. La partenza sarà a Radda, toccando alcuni dei luoghi chiave del consorzio Vino Chianti Classico, come Castellina in Chianti, Madonna di Pietracupa, Sicelle, Panzano in Chianti per terminare a Greve. It’s going to be one of the key stages of Giro 2016, highly likely to be decisive to select the shortlist of potential winners of the Maglia Rosa just before half-distance in the race. The main characteristic of the course is the absence of flat sections, with a continuous series of ups and downs among the Gallo Nero vineyards. The riders, who will each be on the course for around 50 minutes, will have to face climbs, some of them pretty steep, and descents in which they will have to push on the pedals, in particular during the final part of the stage. The start line will be in Radda, touching some of the key locations of the Chianti Classico Wine consortium such as Castellina in Chianti, Madonna di Pietracupa, Sicelle, Panzano in Chianti to end in Greve.
