Questa pittoresca cittadina medievale è abbracciata da mura possenti che la proteggono e allo stesso tempo creano un’atmosfera suggestiva. Glorenza, che fa parte dell’associazione “I borghi più belli d’Italia”, si trova al centro della val Venosta, sovrastata dal colle di Tarces, noto sito archeologico.

Dopo aver attraversato il centro di Glorenza, ci dirigiamo verso Prato dello Stelvio che raggiungiamo dopo 7 chilometri. Vediamo le tentatrici indicazioni stradali del Passo dello Stelvio ma, in questa occasione, svoltiamo in direzione opposta per proseguire lungo la statale della Val Venosta. Attraversiamo i bei paesi che caratterizzano la valle (Spondigna, Silandro, Vezzano). Giunti a Goldrano svoltiamo a destra. Al trentesimo chilometro, in località Morter si imbocca la stretta valle in impegnativa ascesa lasciando sull'altura a sinistra il Castel Montani. Dopo un ponte la salita diventa decisamente dura, si affrontano sei ripidi tornanti in località Masetti di Fuori. Siamo circondati dalle coltivazioni di fragole, che costituiscono la coltura caratteristica della valle. Arriviamo a Bagni di Salto/Bad Salt, località termale ormai in disuso. Dopo una sensibile discesa di 600 metri fino alla zona degli impianti sportivi si sale moderatamente a Transacqua/Ennewasser e Ganda di Martello/Gand. Si prosegue nel bosco con pendenze impegnative, nei pressi di un gruppo di case la salita diventa moderata. Superiamo la suggestiva chiesa di S.Maria alla Fonderia/Sankt Maria in der Schmelz e proseguiamo in ripida ascesa. Si affrontano due ripidi e stretti tornanti ravvicinati seguiti da un breve falsopiano in una stretta gola. Dopo un ponte si sale con pendenza impegnativa in mezzo ad una vasta conca di coltivazioni dove sorgono numerose caratteristiche costruzioni rurali in legno. Si scende moderatamente per 200 metri fino al rifugio presso il centro di biathlon. Si affronta ora uno dei tratti più duri e spettacolari del percorso, i 10 tornantini con pendenze segnalate fino al 13% che si snodano ravvicinati nel bosco fino alla galleria di 80 metri che conduce alla diga che genera il Lago di Gioveretto/Zufrittsee da dove si gode il miglior panorama sul Cevedale ed il suo ghiacciaio.
Si costeggia il bacino senza difficoltà e si sale dolcemente al rifugio Gioveretto/Zufritt Hutte, si scende per 600 metri fino alla pensione Zum See dove la strada si restringe ed entra pianeggiante in una stretta gola. Dopo qualche rampa alternata a tratti facili, si attraversa il torrente e si affonta un tratto di salita molto impegnativa che precede gli 8 tornanti conclusivi con pendenze segnalate fino al 13% : i primi 6 sono ravvicinati e passano presso l'edificio dell'ex rifugio Borromeo e gli ultimi 2 conducono al rifugio Genziana/Enzian Hutte. Davanti al rifugio la strada spiana per pochi metri e lascia a sinistra il rifugio Schonblick, poi si affronta l'ultima durissima rampa in mezzo ai parcheggi fino ad un chiosco, da dove si continua in falsopiano nel fitto bosco per raggiungere in breve il termine della strada asfaltata al Ponte Paradiso sul Rio Plima. La salita misura complessivamente 21.3 chilometri, il dislivello è di 1370 metri, la pendenza media del 6.5% e massima del 13.5%

After passing through the center of Glorenza, we head towards Prato Stelvio, where we arrive after 7 km . We see the directions for the Passo dell Stelvio but, on this occasion, we turn in the opposite direction to continue along the main road of the Val Venosta. We cross the beautiful villages that characterize the valley (Spondigna, Silandro, Vezzano). Once in Goldrano turn right. After the bridge climb becomes quite hard, face steep switchbacks in six locations of Masetti Out. We are surrounded by the strawberries fields, which constitute the main characteristic of the valley. We arrive in Bagni di Salto / Bad Salt, an ancient spa resort. After a sharp drop of 600 meters up to the area of sports facilities is a moderate climb Transacqua/Ennewasser e Ganda di Martello/Gand.
